Preclassified pics?

  • escholzia by escholzia

I got a wonderful picture of a raccoon treed by a coyote, but when I tried to comment on it, no preview or comment box appeared, and it doesn't have a picture ID, though I can get a URL on the image. What are these - is the data set salted with pics selected by the researchers?

Did it say Bushnell at the bottom with a date and time stamp? I had the same thing with several pics that were really cool too. I saw that one with the racoon in the tree and the coyote down below - I couldn't even get an URL on the images - how do you do that?

(http://www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/jefferson_park_red_fox_2.JPG) I figured out how to get the URL info ! Another thing too, is that I have seen and classified these shots multiple times now.....

I'm also having the same problem...same raccoon/coyote, plus a cool lone coyote shot, and a skunk.

Here's another one: http://www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/fox_squirrel_4.JPG And one that isn't so nice: http://www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/rat.JPG. Maybe these are the tutorial data set for the newcomers, and they accidentally got mixed in with the rest. It's certainly annoying getting them over and over.

Okay, so, you sort of got us! 😃 We did release some "gold-standard" data into the mix, the thought being that it would be bad for newcomers to see nothing but empty fields and forests and humans for their first 30 images. (We're planning a major email blast about this project, and we want people to get hooked!) But I didn't know that those had a different appearance, with the "Bushnell" thing at the bottom. And they ideally should only appear every few images to the newest classifiers, nobody else.

However, are you guys saying that you, our dedicated classifiers, are seeing these images over and over? That shouldn't happen. Should just see those once, max. And you can't comment on them?

If so, one more thing for me to bring to the devs. I am committed to getting this working 100% before Snapshot finishes their current season!

Yes, I got the "rat" one 5-6 times in 50 classifications, several times sequentially. I don't know if all the pics with a "Bushnell" frame are your gold standard ones. For example, here is one with no animals: http://www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/empty_3.jpg None of them allow commenting.

Same for me as escholzia --- I am at the point of getting annoyed with these pics 😦( I have been getting them often and repeatedly even the same image 2x in a row... needs fixin for sure!!

This time I logged on, I have gotten about 12+ of these Bushnell pics in a row with several repeats. What is happening? It's like I'm caught in some loop and not getting any other new to me images....

Very frustrating 😦 I am taking a break for a few days -- hope you get this fixed! Also, the ribbon on zooniverse does not seem to have changed in the # of images classified........ All I'm getting this session are 99% of the Bushnell images repeatedly...

  • escholzia by escholzia

Agreed - I also ended up in a loop of only Bushnell pics.

Okay, we've removed that special data. That was an experiment that backfired. Thanks for alerting us so quickly!

Hopefully we can come up with a better way to implement serving new volunteers a few exciting photos.

Sorry about that! Our bad. Everything should be back to normal now.

Thank you --- I couldn't stay away 😉 it's better, but I did just get this one : http://www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/skunk.JPG which is one of the Bushnell pics.... but then I got regular ones after -- only did about 4 before posting this so -- so far it seems fine.... just wanted you to know that a Bushnell pic came up

Another one (Bushnell) popped up: http://www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/Raccoon_coyote.JPG but no problems looping... but I'm logging out now

I did a bit of classifying this morning and got one myself. Put it through to the devs. Trying to figure out what's still going on here...

Back in the Bushnell loop - rats!

  • DZM by DZM admin

... Erk. That's tough. I may not be able to get anyone to address it until Monday... 😦

I cleared the CWW cookies but that didn't help. I managed to escape the loop by logging out and in again, and now the site is working for me.

I have the same problem. It took me about 4 minutes to come across all of these:

    http://static.zooniverse.org/www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/Raccoon_coyote.JPG http://static.zooniverse.org/www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/coyote.JPG http://static.zooniverse.org/www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/opossum.JPG http://static.zooniverse.org/www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/dog.JPG http://static.zooniverse.org/www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/fox_squirrel_4.JPG http://static.zooniverse.org/www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/hyde_park_raccoon.jpg
    http://www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/empty_2.jpg

I have stopped classifying those and just click 'nothing there'.

Hey @Noctiferix -- any luck logging out and then back in? @escholzia -- did that fix it permanently for you?

    Thanks!!

When i first logged on this p.m. (1:00 Chicago time) - I got 3 Bushnells in a row - I clicked nothing here as @Noctiferix suggested -- less work then all the classify clicks 😉 and then it was all fine for the rest of this session --- log out 1:20 p.m.

Heh, just got http://www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/opossum.JPG, and from that I figured there was likely http://www.chicagowildlifewatch.org/offline/subjects/rabbit.JPG, no redfox.JPG however.

I am also still getting these preclassified pics in large batches, even after logging out.

    Posted

  • Noctiferix by Noctiferix

From the last ~50 images I've classified, ~30 were from the Bushnell set. This is extremely annoying

Even after logging out and back in?

I'm going to try to sound some alarm bells on this, if Mason got this even after logging out and back in. Should not be happening...

I was getting these and I've logged all the way out and back in again, the first one I received was a Busnell with a dog on 10-16-2013 6:10:50 which is my 3rd time so far. So there is still a problem going on. I've go work on another project for awhile and check back in a day or so.

@DZM, same here. After posting a comment on the other thread, I logged out, closed all tabs and browsers. After logging in again, I'm still getting Bushnell clusters. One sequence was A-A-B-C-C, kind of a stutter.

On the plus (?) side multiple appearances of the "near north coyotes" provided a clue which motivated me to bust the location, in a park on the (ta-da) near north side. No spoilers here, but there's clock tower you can see in some images that bears the name of the park when seen up close. It's about 1.5 miles north of the Sears Tower.

    Alright.

I had a dev work on this pretty much all day today, and I think it's fixed.

How does the site look now?

    Thanks!!
