I the 1980's I worked for a while in Lake Point Tower, and would occasionally see ring necked pheasants in a vacant lot between Lake Shore Drive and the Lake. This was back before they straightened the old S-curves on LSD. That lot is long gone, and I'm wondering if there are still pheasants anywhere in Chicago? I'd enjoying hearing if there are any reports.

Hm, interesting question! Google says that this is in their range, but I don't know if they've been expatriated from the nearer Chicagoland region.

We have never gotten images of ring-necked pheasants, but that certainly does not mean they are not out there. A quick look on ebird suggests that they are rare visitors to the area now, but have been seen up by Montrose and at Northerly island. Here is a link to the map of sightings
