Raccoon Family

    This photo is interesting because I've always thought raccoons were solitary but here we have two wrestling together while another is doing its own thing.

    This is probably a juvenile group of raccoons. However, in urban areas (or locations where food sources are abundant), raccoons have been shown to no longer care so much about territories and will congregate in large numbers. When food sources are abundant, there is little need for this species to expend energy and potentially injure itself defending it. One of my favorite examples of this is actually a video on YouTube, where some people at a rest stop feed raccoons doritos. Note that THIS IS SOMETHING YOU SHOULD NEVER DO.
