  I'm curious - what is the trap in the back left of the photo set up to catch, and/or is it part of the research?

  That is a garden bed! One of our sites is at a green house.

  Oh is it? I swear that the small squarish block between the two larger beds looks like a cage trap.

  Yes, there's a trap between the two garden beds. I don't think it's ever moved, plenty of rabbits have hopped by safely.
